- XMLBoard
XMLBoard is a XML-driven multi-forum message board system written in Perl. All of the forum data is stored in XML format. By using XML, XMLBoard keeps information separate from appearance. This allows for dynamic generation of output. Unlike boards that save the posts in HTML format, XMLBoard can instantly change the appearance of all messages by simply changing the HTML code in 1 file. This is particularly handy if you plan on having design changes to your website but don want to lose the old discussion on your message board. Additionally, by not writing out HTML for each message, you save significant disk space. XMLBoard supports multiple forums, and multiple forum designs. The design for each forum is done with HTML. XMLBoard comes with simple HTML already set up. Plus, the HTML code is in separate files from the Perl code, so you don need to wade through Perl coding to find what you want to change. Other nifty features include: Uses optional cookies to remember the users names and remind them when their last visit was and how many posts have been added, New posts are indicated in the index, Each forum has one administrator, who can remove posts and threads with the XMLBoard script, and Option to display only recent posts, created within a certain number of days.
